Love Languages: Are you compatable with your partner?
Posted on 21. Jul, 2010 by JohnCByrdIII in Lifestyle
Today I was speaking with a friend who is having a spat with her fiance. What I realized from our conversation is that their problems are based in the fact that they speak different “Love Languages”.
She mentioned that she doesn’t feel like he values her happiness or peace of mind. The way she shows love is not the way he expects to receive it; and vice-versa.
Now, my wife will be the first to admit that I’m not the love guru. She loves to vent when she’s had a bad day. I, on the other hand, keep that inside and she hates that! She’ll see that something is bothering me despite my attempts to hide it. From my perspective, I’ve already lived it once. Now that I have to tell you the story, I have to live it all over again and now you’re upset too. What have we gained?
Being in a serious (by serious, I mean long term, “I’m not cheating on you”) relationship, is often complicated. How do you satisfy someones needs without sacrificing your own?
