I’m ironically one of the many Blacks that doesn’t think someone is a racist if they use the word “Nigger” like Dr. Laura did. She obviously had no malice in the use of the word and explained herself pretty well in my opinion.

She exposed herself as either a racist or an idiot for her OTHER comments that got overshadowed because the mainstream media gets so caught up over the word “nigger”.

Perhaps he is from the south where “Cotton Pickin” is used instead of profanity. Even the KING, “ELVIS” used it in one of his songs. Keep your cotton pickin hands out my curly hair…..

Incredible what an absence of generational context will do. As a 60+ year old Black man I recognize the lack of racial animus in Rick’s “cotton pickin” remark. He was not calling President Obama a “cotton pickin” President. Nor was he being disparaging in any way. For my generation “Cotton pickin” was used in much the same way as “dog gone”. For example, one might have said “Now wait a cotton pickin minute” as quickly as they might have said, “Now wait a dog gone minute.” There were no racial overtones in either expression. Both expressions served as mild expletives, nothing more.

So, we need to give it a rest. We need to stop allowing ourselves to become distracted with non-issues.

The truth is President Obama needs to get some backbone. He has squandered 18 months by attempting to be bi-partisan with a Republican leadership that has no intention of ever working along with him. So, before it is too late, President Obama needs to lead this nation with – or without – Republican support.
