Troops Return Home; Obama’s Mission Accomplished!

Now, somewhere years ago we’ve heard the term “Mission Accomplished!” before.  They say ‘the proof is in the pudding!’  In other words its results that counts.  This time our troops are really leaving Iraq. There was mention of two flights scheduled early Thursday morning with a total of 350 soldiers; a second scheduled to depart at 8:30 A.M.

The last Stryker armored vehicle of the 4th Brigade left Iraq crossing the border into Kuwait today. This is factual evidence of a war ended.  President Barack Obama promised to end the combat mission in Iraq during earlier days of campaigning for presidency- Mission Accomplished!

Here we are seven years, five months later after the U.S. led invasion (an invasion Obama opposed) with the President having vowed to end the combat operations by pulling all troops out by August 31st of 2011. Says CBS military analyst and former Army Major Mike Lyons, “I think it’s the right time. The President did the right thing by getting them out of there before the end of this deadline.”

Wonder where the ‘Welcome Back!’/Homecoming Party is scheduled to take place for our troops in your home town? The Vice President and Dr. Biden traveled to Ft. Drum to welcome home troops. Wherever it is I know it’ll be something special and beautiful for our well-deserved soldiers. Imagine multicolored balloons, confetti, with waiting hugs and kisses in abundance!  A hangar in Texas has the meaty smell of fresh Texas brisket filling the air along with the open-arms of wives, children, mothers and fathers as the soldiers await the command from their Sergeant… “His last order:”
